FAKEMASTERFLASH & DIE ENTWICKLUNG DER MACHT

How is it possible that cruel mechanisms such as racism, oppression and chauvinism still exist in our enlightened, high-tech world?
Are there deeper, cultural reasons for populism that lead to the fact that old patterns of behavior and rituals such as human sacrifice are still reproduced?

David Chotjewitz and a team of artists and theorists go on a search for traces of the transformation of egalitarian societies in hierarchical states, die on property and foreign foundations, and asks: What conclusions can we draw from this today?

The lecture performance “Fakemasterflash and the development of power” presents an interim status of this work process. The MARKK, an institution that questions its colonial and Eurocentric past, is the venue here, but also part of the structures that the lecture deals with.

The lecture performances are funded by the Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media and the Performing Arts Fund as part of the Neustart Kultur program.
